showing off rnd. 2
When monkey joined the family I so badly wanted a cradle, but unfortunately never found one I loved at a price I could afford. And I might add that since his "room" was only a glorified closet off the "master" of our teeny tiny apartment, we didn't really have the space or the need...
Now with the impending arrival of little miss, we have the challenge of needing to keep baby close for midnight nursings since the kid's room is all the way across the house. So enter this little find: a gem I spotted at Kid to Kid several weeks back and snatched up on the spot since it was $40 and included a cradle mattress and bumper. At the time it was a dingy brown, but after a nice cleaning and several cans of yellow spray paint, we were in business! Next came tackling the construction of a cradle sheet out of some fabric I had been saving for a special project- don't you just love online tutorials?!. And last was the refashioning of the old bumper in to something I loved- also out of stashed away fabric I had been wanting to turn in to something fabulous.
Total cost for an awesome place for our tiny girl to sleep in: sixty buckaroos!
Oh sweet satisfaction. I can't wait to see a baby in there...

it's a good thing he doesn't check my blog
One of my resolutions for the upcoming year is to better document life. So with that in mind, I thought I'd send this little gem out into the blogosphere:
Yes, it is a horrible photo, but listen- it is better than nothing, ok?
The scale from letter to letter is nowhere near perfect, but I love the home grown-ness of it all. And best yet, you can't really beat a handmade gift that cost nothing as the whole lot was created from scraps I already had on hand. Husband will be thrilled!
Next up, they need a little something to nestle in to so I'm off to make a small drawstring pouch.
If you think I'm crafty now, you should see what I have in store. YEEE-OW-ZA!
ps- you like how my belly snuck in to the picture?

something to report
she is officially in my ribs.
while simultaneously kickboxing my bladder.
therefore, i am no longer sleeping-
awake when she's dancing, then awake when she's not wondering why she stopped...
shall it be 10 or 12 or 14 more weeks?
having no due date is so, so much fun. you should really try it sometime.

laundry day
monday is for groceries.
tuesday, wednesday, and friday for cleaning.
but thursday..., ahhh thursday... 'tis the blessed day for laundry.
and so, upon waking up this morning, i set out- before showering, eating, brushing, or primping- to do the laundry.
up and down.
back and forth.
and finally it was done.
all was washed and dried, strewn across the bed, ready to be folded.
all of little buddy's clothes in one basket. all of roo's in another. and all of mine set to be promptly put away.
ethan's basket was full.
ryan's basket was full.
and yet my pile consisted solely of a week's worth of undies, a few socks, and a pair of lounge pants.
now either the washer ate all of my stuff- impossible.
i wear more of ryan's clothes than my own- not likely as they no longer fit
or i don my robe nearly every day of the week, minus grocery day. cause you know, that's when i get really dressed up in my awesomely green jammie pants and paint the town.
so about now is the time i'm thinking that since i've accomplished my goal of getting in a daily shower, perhaps my next goal should be getting dressed.
baby steps people, baby steps.

a pregnancy discovery
Tuesday, December 1, 2009
can you believe it?
today i'm scratching my head wondering how it got to be december already.
and i might also be dragging myself everywhere since i've been losing serious sleep over this:

yes, friends, a stroller. turns out, i'm more stressed out about this than any other child related issue at the moment. and i can't sleep because of it. in fact, even if i do sleep, i dream about strollers. seriously.
if you find this to be ridiculous, believe me- you are in good company. roo had a hard time falling asleep last night through his fits of laughter. i made the mistake of admitting to him how much this decision is eating at me. now he thinks i'm crazy.
do you think i'm crazy?
um. how about you not answer that.

thanksgiving.
pregnancy means hormones. hormones mean blubbering.
so instead of writing out a list of things i'm grateful for and, therefore, turning in to a total boob, i'm just gonna say-
happy thanksgiving.
short, sweet, to the point, and done without shedding even one tear.
well. on second thought, can i add just one more thing?
i love my husband. and i love my baby(s).
that was two more things. so sue me.
i need a tissue.

i died a little inside
today feels like a real struggle.
woke and got out the door on time.
endocrinology appointment went swimmingly.
j&s wedding announcements are in the mail.
old navy's clearance yielded much needed lounge pants.
ate a most delicious wrap from whole foods.
finished it off with a cookie.
the laundry room door is unlocked and with luck we'll all have clean undies before morning...
doesn't sound like such a bad day, does it?
but man alive if i can't shake this feeling. like i just want to crawl under a rock and stay there until this baby is ready to come out and give me my body back.
it's because i made the mistake of eyeing some of my most favorite vintage etsy shops. then realized that it would me months, MONTHS, before i could dare wear anything like that again...
...then shortly thereafter the package with my what-was-supposed-to-be-perfect-wedding-ensemble arrived and i tried it on. only to realize that even black's supposed slimming effects are powerless against these preggie curves. (question: is it necessary that even my arms have to look fat with child?)
...and it put me in a mood:
baaaaah humbug.

scheduled projects have been interrupted to bring you a needy child
all crafting is on hold since i have a feeling that my little man is not going to allow it.
you see, he has quite the full schedule the next few days:
flu booster
first dentist visit
H1N1 vaccine
endocrinology app
don't ask how all of these things somehow got scheduled within a few days of each other, but let me just say that these are the types of appointments you can't get picky about.
it should be a really interesting weekend and it will likely be a few days before i see this again
but on the bright side, i'm hoping he'll sit still and cuddle with me for a while...

it's a good day
because the bedding is complete.
that means one thing off of my list of perhaps a thousand just got to be checked off.
hip! hip!
now added to the list:
take picture of said bedding to show off to my bloggy friends.
i may or may not be putting this off until i complete more of the room...
i know. i'm so cruel.
